Another Scarf...

Just wanted to pop in and show you that I have managed a wee bit of hooky lately.  I'm working away on my latest Granny Square but it is slow progress when you are using 4 ply wool and a 3.5 hook.

Anyway, the lovely teacher who received this scarf, handed me a bag of the most scrumptious wool at the kid's Sports Day and asked if I could make her a Winter scarf, so here it is.  I can't find the label but it was a wool cashmere mix - I think... and is super soft.  Again, the usual, unimaginative UK Tr Crochet stitch, but I think it looked ok and I have just received a message to say she loves it!

Not the best photo but I was taking it as I was running out the door to pick Smallest Boy up from Pre-school.  I was told off by a friend recently for not taking photos of everything I make so made the effort to remember!

  1. Gosh, that's not a colour I would pick out for me, but it is gorgeous and looks very soft and warm. She didn't leave you with the leftovers did she?

I agree with your friend, you should have photos of your work, I could kick myself over some of the paintings I have done and didn't have a picture of, so I try to keep records of everything now.

  2. Why aren't you on Ravelry? Join! What blanket are you making? Who's it for? I'm making one just now too, the Double Diamond pattern: http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=2301

Lastly, I rather like that green scarf. Don't you find hooking odd length yarn difficult? It's hard to gauge because the yarn is thick in some places and fine in others. I've donated tons of it to the art dept at school because it looks lovely in the shop and then I can't find a thing to make with it. Art teacher loves me and my failures; so many wooden spoon people with weird yarn hair for the kids to enjoy.

  3. Oh it's beautiful Sandra, it looks so plush. Absolutely love the shade of green, that would certainly brighten any day wearing that one.
I think you did a great job of the photo too :o) xo

  6. Thanks for the comments! I actually love the green and wish I had found the yarn for myself, no leftovers unfortunately!
Because it's so chunky and skinny at the same time, I use the biggest hook I have, a 15mm, and keep it as loose as I can manage.
I was roasting even just tying it on, so I imagine she will be putting it away for awhile.
