Ta-dahhh!

At last I have some pics of the first finished Granny Square blanket.

This one was done in a variegated wool which reduces the need for sewing in endless ends - crafty!  I do like the way the colours change as it goes round.

I'm thinking it should be called the Wimbledon Blanket as the colours are perfect and by the time Wimbledon comes around again, we'll be needing it!

It is a lovely, soft, chunky wool, hooked with a 7mm hook, approx 42 rounds and finished off with 4 rounds of sc.  I actually ran out of wool and had to call around to track down 3 more balls.

Daughter is delighted.

  2. That yarn looks so soft and so great of you to think about how to avoid sewing ends in - you really must hate sewing them in! Congrats on creating such a beautiful blanket. x

  3. It's fantastic, especially as you could just keep going round and round with the same ball of wool and achieve such a great effect, and it was chunky too so less rounds needed. What wool did you use, can we get it in the UK! The blankket is really nice and I'm sure any little girl would love one.

  5. I love it!!! I'm doing a giant granny blanket but I didn't have the good sense like you to use variegated wool so I have a million ends to sew in. Your girl looks so cozy wrapped up in it.

  10. Your blanket is truly gorgeous! I adore the wool you've used - how brilliant that you get all the colour changes with no horrible ends to tie in!!! I am definitely going to try this myself. Just finishing off a giant granny now but the end-tying is making me feel miserable already!! The pics of your daughter are just lovely - she looks so snuggly warm. Have a fab week hon.

  11. Thanks for all the lovely comments!
The yarn is a Cleckheaton 100% wool called California. It was really just an experiment but I loved it and kept going. I hadn't thought about the ends but now I'm quite glad to have skipped that part. Definitely a very satisfying project.

  14. Oh lovely!! It's gorgeous and so cosy looking! Fab pic of your daughter all wrapped up in it too :)
I think I should have started a blanket with a similar yarn or maybe just a pattern which meant less sewing in of ends....at this rate I'll never get mine finished! (so much for productive eh, hahaha!!)

Hope you're having a great week,
    Louise xx
